Zaira D'Agata

Zaira D’Agata was born in Catania in 1978. She graduated in Scenography in 2014 at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania. During her studies, she focused on book restoration and 3D architectural modelling for cultural heritage sites. However, drawing has always been her passion, which she started practising in 1999, as a street artist. Her first exhibition “La mostra dei mostri” (The Exhibition of Monsters) took place in 2006 at the occupied space A.U.R.O. in Catania. D’Agata’s most characterizing language is digital drawing in which line, segment and sign weave compose synthetic images traced by intuition and a pungent expressive ability. In the last two years her research has extended to painting on canvas in which an imaginary theatre is populated by graphic screens inhabited by histrionic figures and acrobats.

Yara Said

Yara Said was born in Syria in 1991 and graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts of Damascus in 2014. She is part of the Femist Art Fest collective and, invited by Amnesty International for a personal show in Amsterdam in 2016, she designed the flag representing the Refugee Olympic Team flag for the Rio Olympics of 2016, that has been acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum and is currently part of an exhibition at the Stedelijik Museum in Amsterdam. Her style goes beyond the traditional categories of abstract and figurative, it uses presences and disappearances to create the dense structure of an anamorphic imaginary.

Spendid Ardent - Noor Al Bahjat & Yara Said

Mauro Rolle

Mauro Rolle was born in Carignano on 3rd June 1967. He lives in Nichelino for most of the time and has made his life a sort of ‘mission’.

Since 1986 he has been hospitalized several times in health facilities due to psychiatric disorders that have become progressively worse.

Since 2002, having been sent away from home by his family, he has lived, worked and undergone treatment at the Fermata d’Autobus (Bus Stop) Community Centre.

He is an exponent of punk culture and a metropolitan artist, always looking for the most heterogeneous stimuli through which he gives back futuristic visions of the reality that he lives in. His creativity keeps his works open and allows observers to immerse themselves in a context that leaves much room for imagination and interpretation.

In 2011 he presented his works at the group show Parole parole parole (Words Words Words) curated by Carola Lorio and held at the Caffè Basaglia cultural centre in Turin. In 2012 he collaborated with the Ornato di te (Adorned by You) cultural association through his personal exhibition Parole e francobolli (Words and Stamps) curated by Massimo Greco. In 2014 he participated in the Lettere (Letters) exhibition curated by Francesco Sena at the Amantes cultural centre in Turin. In September 2017 his personal exibhition name “Io sono (dar)K” curated by Francesco Sena and Marco Petrocchi inaugurates Gliacrobati Art Gallery.

Giacomo De Vito

Giacomo De Vito was born in Milan in 1976. He graduated in Illustration at IED in 2006, and he lives in Turin. The techniques he uses are acrylic and oil pastel, employed both on paper and canvas. De Vito’s language favours bright, harsh, anti-naturalistic colours, simplified volumes with heavy contours, resulting from an aggressive, irregular and deformed sign.

Among his exhibitions: “Maschere e Trasfigurazioni” (Masks and Transfigurations), 2010, Françoise Calcagno Art Studio, “Venezia e Giacomo de Vito” (Venice and Giacomo de Vito), 2013, Caffè Basaglia, Turin – both personal exhibitions curated by Massimo Greco; “Versus”,2011, Velan Center for Contemporary Art, Turin, curated by Francesca Referza; “Lo Stato dell’Arte” (The State of the Art), 2012, Italian Pavillion, Turin, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and with a presentation by Jean Blanchaert.

Noor Bahjat al-Massri

Born in Damascus, Syria, in 1991, Noor Bahjat lives and works in the UAE. She graduated cum laude at Damascus Fine Arts Academy. Noor’s figurative style is surreal, expressionistic and full of cultural symbolism. She mainly investigates figurative subjects and recurring female protagonists, identified as self-portraits. After visiting the Philippines in 2016, her palette and visual narrative changed drastically, shifting to backgrounds illuminated by details that incorporate elements of nature and water in her portraits. She describes imaginative tales densely populated with iconographic and symbolic themes invoking a return to the mythic dimension of naturalness.

Her work has been shown in several collective exhibitions and two personal shows, one in Dubai and the other in Manila (Ayyam Gallery)

    Gliacrobati

The Gliacrobati Gallery opened in 2017 as an exhibition space dedicated to fostering an international dialogue between mainstream and non-mainstream contemporary art, with the aim of exploring their precious, porous, and jagged boundaries. With a keen eye on the complexities of existence, the gallery seeks to highlight the work of artists operating on the margins of the official art system—independently or within protected environments—such as self-taught creators, outsiders, and artists from war zones or areas affected by economic and cultural crises.

Founded by a group of professionals from the nonprofit association Fermata d’Autobus Onlus, the gallery is engaged in projects that investigate art’s ability to capture and sublimate inner fractures, delve into emotions, raise questions, and activate processes of vision concealed beneath the ordinariness of everyday life. In doing so, it restores to the artist their role as an inventor of new worlds and a builder of bridges between personal experience and the complex reality that surrounds us.

Equally central is the exploration of art’s social dimension—its role as a vehicle for reflection on contemporary dynamics, with particular attention to human rights violations and gender-based violence. The gallery is directed by Chiara Borgaro together with a diverse group of professionals.

Beyond its exhibition activity, Gliacrobati supports a studio-workshop developed in collaboration with the therapeutic communities within the Fermata d’Autobus Onlus care network (see Collettivo Gliacrobati). The workshop is open to the wider community, with special attention to people experiencing challenging life circumstances.

The gallery believes in dialogue, exchange, and the building of relationships as essential means of promoting and supporting the artists it represents. On one hand, this takes shape through local collaborations with other galleries, associations, and cultural institutions; on the other, through connections with international partners, in order to maintain a vision that is as broad and diverse as possible.

With accessibility as a guiding principle, the gallery views technology as a valuable resource for the dissemination of artistic projects—an opportunity to extend visibility for artists whose exhibitions can also be experienced in a virtual space: https://www.vspacegallery.com/.

We take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to all those who believe in Gliacrobati and support its work.
