Zaira D’Agata was born in Catania in 1978. She graduated in Scenography in 2014 at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania. During her studies, she focused on book restoration and 3D architectural modelling for cultural heritage sites. However, drawing has always been her passion, which she started practising in 1999, as a street artist. Her first exhibition “La mostra dei mostri” (The Exhibition of Monsters) took place in 2006 at the occupied space A.U.R.O. in Catania. D’Agata’s most characterizing language is digital drawing in which line, segment and sign weave compose synthetic images traced by intuition and a pungent expressive ability. In the last two years her research has extended to painting on canvas in which an imaginary theatre is populated by graphic screens inhabited by histrionic figures and acrobats.
